Mid-South Substance Abuse Commission Announcements Upcoming Underage Drinking Town Hall Meetings The Michigan Department of Community Health/Office of Drug Control Policy is participating in a national effort to help communities stop underage drinking. The overall theme is Underage Drinking: Not a Minor Problem. In the state of Michigan, over 50 communities are joining with almost 1,600 communities across the United States to address goals as set forth in the Surgeon General's Call to Action to Prevent and Reduce Underage Drinking. The purpose of these Town Hall Meetings is to increase the understanding and awareness of underage drinking and its consequences, and to encourage individuals, families, and communities to address the problem. The MDCH/ODCP has been working with the Regional Substance Abuse Coordinating Agencies and Community Coalitions across the state, as well as Prevention Network, MCRUD, and the Michigan State Police/Office of Highway Safety Planning to promote these Town Hall Meetings. Below is the schedule of meetings in the Mid-South Region. All are open to the public and everyone is encouraged to attend one or more sessions.
